Pastoral landscape

La Paz Community School is located in the northwest region of Costa Rica called Guanacaste.

Though Guanacaste has historically been a rural area, fertile for farming, the region has been inundated with tourists, predominantly from the United States and Canada over the last few decades.

With this influx of tourists has come much development in residential and commercial spaces, both a blessing and a curse.  When farmers move cattle from one field to another, they travel through the streets, alongside noisy cars.
